Scouting Report: Texas A&M Gets Athletic DT Specimen Albert Regis

A closer look at new Texas A&M defensive tackle commit Albert Regis from La Porte. The talented specimen does a whole lot more than play defense and has a very high upside.

La Porte 2021 DT Albert Regis (6'1, 290) committed to Texas A&M over offers from Baylor, Houston, TCU, Texas, Arkansas, Minnesota, Ole Miss and more.

Regis, a one-time Minnesota commitment, reported that proximity to home and scheme fit were primary reasons behind his commitment to stay close to home and play for the Aggies.

Regis is rated as a three-star DCTF prospect. He checks in as the No. 78 prospect in the DCTF Hot 100 and the No. 3 DT in the state of Texas.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Regis is a very athletic interior defensive line specimen.

He has been playing both ways in high school, spending a lot of time flexed out as a jumbo tight end/fullback in the LaPorte offense, where he as been able to showcase raw athleticism. It is uncommon to see players at his size be such an integral part of the offensive scheme, but he often gets a lot of touches and finds the end zone.

On defense, Regis often uses a bull rush to create disruption, and his speed/quickness makes him a mismatch for offensive linemen. He runs the field well and can track ball carriers down in open space. He should develop into a run-stopping specialist.

Because he is such an essential piece to the offense, he does not have as much tape on the defensive side, but he should continue to improve there as he concentrates on one college position.
