UTSA Gets Seven New Commits During Busy Weekend

New UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor is known for his abilities on the recruiting trail, and the Roadrunners are off to a hot start in 2021 under his guidance. Here is a closer look at the SEVEN new verbal pledges UTSA added over a busy weekend of recruiting action.

UTSA added seven new in-state commits over the weekend. Here is a breakdown of each prospect who committed to the Roadrunners.

(Listed in order of commitment time/date)

RB Kaden Meredith (5'10 185) - Longview
Meredith is not a big back, but he is a well-rounded one. He accelerates quickly and darts defenders in the open field with relative ease. The DCTF three-star has good vision and shows natural cutback ability. He has the "juice" to hit a hole and run away from defenders. Meredith is also an excellent pass-catcher out of the backfield.

CB Brian Mayes (6'1, 165) - Houston Heights
Mayes is fun to watch on tape because he is a cornerback who tries to be very physical in press coverage. He is also an aggressive tackler who will fly in low and take out the ball carriers legs. He has long arms, and that helps him jam up receivers as the line of scrimmage. He has moderate recovery speed and mirrors well.
