This Week in Recruiting: Five-Star Zach Evans Delays Announcement, Texas Offers East Texas Defensive Lineman Sawyer Goram-Welch

Among the biggest recruiting news from Texas high school football this week was North Shore five-star Zach Evans' commitment plans and Texas extending an offer to Oklahoma State verbal pledge Sawyer Goram-Welch from Longview.

Prospect on the Rise

Despite looking for some new staffers, Texas is still aggressively hitting the recruiting trail and extended an offer to Longview 2020 DT Sawyer Goram-Welch.

Goram-Welch, who has strong ties to Texas A&M, is verbally committed to Oklahoma State.

Goram-Welch helped lead Longview to a state title in 2018 and put up even better stats as a senior (64 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, eight sacks).

Commit of the Week

Barbers Hill 2020 OT Casey Collier (6'7, 290) announced that he was committing to USC.

Collier picked the Trojans over offers from schools like Indiana, Kansas, Arizona, Missouri, Texas Tech and Houston.

Collier, who is rated as the No. 65 prospect in the DCTF Hot 100, has true left tackle potential and was one of the top performers at the Next Level Athlete Top 100 Showcase in Houston.

Underclassman of the Week

Arlington Bowie 2022 OT Devon Campbell (6'4, 265) has a great highlight reel, and schools are starting to offer quickly.

He added a new offer from Houston this week, and the Cougars join Illinois State and Kansas on his early offer list.

Campbell has accepted an invitation to compete at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in Dallas on Jan. 19.

Recruit of the Week

North Shore 2020 five-star RB Zach Evans (5'11, 200) was the talk of the town after announcing a commitment date for TODAY, but it looks like he is going to announce at the Under Armour All-America Game in early January.

There is talk that he may sign in the early signing period and keep his decision under wraps until he picks a school on television.

Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Texas A&M are all in the hunt with LSU as the perceived leader at this point in the race.

Evans is rated as the No. 1 prospect in the DCTF Hot 100.
