This Week in Recruiting: Four-star DE Princely Umanmielen back on the market; Baylor adds 2021 commit

What was this week's biggest prospect news? Next Level Athlete's Greg Powers takes a look at Katy Tompkins 2020 RB RJ Smith, West Orange-Stark 2020 LB Tyrone Brown and Manor 2020 DE Princely Umanmielen.

Prospect on the Rise

Katy Tompkins 2020 RB RJ Smith (5'11, 165) picked up an offer from Temple.

The Owls join an exciting mix of schools on and offer list that features some of the nation's most elite academic institutions: Florida International, Fordham, Illinois State, HBU, New Mexico, ETBU, Dartmouth, Princeton, Yale, Toledo, Bucknell, Furman, Air Force, Tulsa, Columbia, Harvard and Penn.

Smith is an electric player for an 8-1 Falcons squad (only loss is to Katy). He is dangerous in the open field and is a good pass catcher, so he will be a prospect who can be moved around and featured in different ways.

Commit of the Week

West Orange-Stark 2020 LB Tyrone Brown (5'11, 200) committed to Baylor.

Brown is an inside linebacker in high school, but will most likely fit into a hybrid OLB/S role in college.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Brown is a good tackler who shows the ability to knock ball carriers back on tape. He will need to add some size to stay in the box, but he is often around the football and makes a lot of plays. It will be interesting to see how his skill set is utilized in the Big 12.

Underclassman of the Week

Katy 2021 CB Bobby Taylor Jr. (6'2, 170) picked up an offer from Texas A&M.

The Aggies join an early list that includes schools like Baylor, Houston, Arkansas, Oklahoma State and around a half dozen more.

Recruit of the Week

In the week's biggest recruiting news, Manor 2020 DE Princely Umanmielen (6'5, 255) decommitted from Texas.

Since announcing his decommitment, Umanmielen picked up a new offer from Florida. He was considering schools like Texas A&M, Auburn, and Oklahoma back when he initially committed to the 'Horns.

Umanmielen has already used two of his five NCAA allowed official visits (Texas, Oklahoma).

Umanmielen checks in as the No. 27 player in the DCTF Hot 100 and is rated as the No. 3 DE in the Lone Star State.

TWiR Game of the Week: Hebron vs. Lewisville

This is an elite district showdown as Lewisville and Hebron are still in the race for the No. 1 spot as there are some important showdowns in the final two weeks.

  • Bluechip: Hebron S Darius Snow (Michigan State commit)
  • Top Underclassman: Lewisville WR Armani Winfield
  • Sleeper to Watch: Hebron WR Jaddai Henry
