Southlake Carroll's New Signal Caller is a National Recruit

Get to know new Southlake Carroll quarterback Quinn Ewers, who already has eight scholarship offers.

2022 QB Quinn Ewers (6'3, 180) will be the new signal caller at Southlake Carroll in 2019.

Ewers has established control of the position through a strong showing in spring ball and the 7-on-7 season. The Dragons are one of 62 teams qualified for the state tournament in College Station.

"We're getting our timing down with all the routes and stuff, and just we're having fun out here winning some games," Ewers said.

"It's a lot of fun. I mean, I love football. We're just here to compete our butts off and have fun while we're doing it. And get the timing down for the season because now that's the most important part of 7-on-7, really it's just practice for us."

What can Southlake fans come to expect from their new quarterback?

"They can expect a lot of competitiveness from me," Ewers said. "And a lot of drive to win games."

Ewers is already a national recruit. He has collected eight early scholarships and his first offer came in before he even played a snap on his middle school team.

"The University of North Texas in the 6th grade," Ewers answered when asked who offered him first.

"I went to a camp in Denton. Not too far from here. And I just went up there to get coached by coach (Graham) Harrell, who moved to USC now. I guess I just balled out and they offered me when I was like 13."

"I was kind of like, shocked," Ewers continued. "They are starting really early now."

Offers followed from schools like Ohio State (8th grade), Arizona State, Arkansas, Michigan, Michigan State and SMU. His newest offer is from Texas A&M, where his friend and Southlake Carroll teammate TE Blake Smith recently committed.

"Obviously, he is in my ear," Ewers informed.  "He is telling me how much he is in love with it. He loves it up there, and he fell in love after a few visits.

Ewers still has three years of high school football left before going on to play at college, so he is not in a rush to make a decision.

"I don't really have any favorites right now," Ewers said.

There are a couple of schools that he would be interested to hear more from as well.

"I am really interested in USC," Ewers reported when asked about national programs he would have an interest in. "I like California. I went up there last year, and it is nice. I liked it up there. So that'd be one. And I like Georgia. So those would be two."

Southlake Carroll finished with a 13-1 record and advanced to the fourth round the TXHSFB playoffs in 2018.
