Big Hits: LB Malik Jefferson & QB Kyler Murray
Jefferson won the 2014 Butkus Award given to the best linebacker in high school. He was named a Freshman All American (2015) and was the Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year (2017). The Cincinnati Bengals selected him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Murray, who signed with Texas A&M and transferred to Oklahoma, is in the thick of the Heisman race and has the Sooners in the National Championship picture. He was also the Oakland A's first-round draft pick in the 2018 MLB Draft.
Big Misses: RB SoSo Jamabo & OT Connor Williams
Jamabo amassed video game-like numbers at Plano West before signing with UCLA in one of the more unique National Signing Day press conference announcements, but that was the last big moment of his football career because he has often been sidelined with off the field issues in Los Angeles. Williams was the No. 61 player in the state and had a great career at Texas -- starting all 12 games at left tackle as a true freshman. Williams was a second round draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2018.
Interesting Facts:
With just days to go before National Signing Day in February, eight of the Top 25 prospects in the state remained uncommitted. It is only the second week of November, and only four of the consensus Top 25 remain on the market in the Class of 2019.
TCU only signed three recruits in the Top 50, and only one (WR Jaelan Austin) remains on the current roster.
