Texas Tech bounces back from Ole Miss loss by rolling Lamar

It's a cliche, especially with Tech's QB history, but Alan Bowman definitely didn't look like a freshman during Saturday's 77-0 win.

Alan Bowman appears to be here to stay

McLane Carter is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain, and in his absence, the freshman is doing everything he can to make sure the job is his regardless. After a respectable debut filling in for Carter against Ole Miss (29 of 49 for 273 yards and a touchdown), Bowman was just about flawless against Lamar, completing 22 of 25 passes (one of which was a drop) for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns. Yes, it's an FCS opponent, but less than a year ago, Bowman was suiting up for Grapevine against high school teams like Azle and F.W. Eastern Hills. This is a big leap, and he's handling it well. That's good news for the Red Raider faithful.

That’s certainly how every coach hopes his team responds to a bad loss

If you're Texas Tech, and you just lost to Ole Miss on a relatively big stage, you better whip the snot out of your small school opponent the next week. There's really not much else to say. The Red Raiders outgained the Cardinals 683-182 and forced four turnovers. Three quarterbacks got playing time, and plenty of twos got extensive action with a full second half of work. Seven players rushed for positive yardage. Twelve players caught passes.

Pitched a shutout

Again, yes it's an FCS opponent, but it's the Tech defense we're talking about here. A shutout is a shutout. So let's let the Red Raiders enjoy this one before figuring out how to deal with that red hot Houston team next week.
