Texas won twice in the portal on Thursday when the Longhorns added former Louisville defensive tackle Jermayne Lole from the transfer portal. The 6-3, 310-pound senior not only boosts Texas in the trenches, but it hurts rival Oklahoma because that is where Lole was originally committed. The Sooners added former TCU defensive tackle Damonic Williams to the room last week.

The two concerns for the Texas defense are interior defensive line and at cornerback. Lole helps add a veteran presence with big-game experience alongside Alfred Collins, Vernon Broughton and fellow transfers like Bill Norton and Tiaoalii Savea.

Lole began his career at Arizona State and totaled 123 tackles, including 20 for loss and 11 sacks in 28 appearances over three seasons with the Sun Devils. He missed the 2021 season at Arizona State with a triceps injury and most of the 2022 season with an elbow injury suffered in the season opener. He played in 12 of Louisville’s 14 games last year, however, finishing with five tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
