Lovejoy (11-1) vs. Texarkana Texas High (11-1), 7 p.m. Friday at Longview’s Pirate Stadium: To some, Lovejoy has taken on role of Region II favorite, and the Leopards did nothing to make anyone think differently last week as they blasted Ennis, 41-7.

QB Hondo Franklin threw three touchdown passes, while the Leopards got the running game going with two 100-yard rushers in Dante Dean and Khalin Williams.

Lovejoy’s defense continues to play well thanks in large part to Ohio State LB commit Payton Pierce.

Texas High won a thriller over a tough Mansfield Summit squad, 17-14, as the Tigers’ defense made two critical stops in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers offense did struggle against a tough Summit front seven and they’ll need to be better this week against an explosive Lovejoy attack.

Texas High will need to get star RB Tradarian Bell going if it wants to pull the upset; Bell had just 59 yards of offense last week that simply won’t cut it against Lovejoy.

Stepp’s Pick: Lovejoy by 12
