State's No. 2 QB Michael Hawkins Jr. and his Brother Ruled Eligible at DEC Meeting

The District 3-5A Division II Executive Committee met in Frisco to determine the eligibility of 2024 No. 2-rated quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. (6'2, 185) and 2025 DB Maliek Hawkins (6'0, 160)

In a 5-1 vote, the DEC determined that the transfer was not for athletic purposes and that the Hawkins' brothers would be immediately eligible at Emerson

As a junior at Allen, Hawkins Jr. completed 148 of 264 passes for 2,007 yards and 20 touchdowns. Rushed for 400 yards and four scores. Earned first-team all-district honors. He is considering offers from programs like Alabama, Arkansas, Cincinnati, NC State, Oklahoma, Penn State, TCU and Virginia Tech. 

Maliek Hawkins has early offers from Arkansas and Texas State.
