They call South Oak Cliff 2024 ATH Jamyri Cauley (6'3, 205) Wildman, but maybe not for the reasons that you'd expect.

"The crazy story is that I was born down in Dallas, but I was raised in the country, so I am just a country boy. I don't wear shirts, no shoes," Cauley said with a smile. "I'm just country. It's a country feeling."

Cauley is certainly a Wildman on the field; his play has been instrumental in helping lead the Golden Bears to back-to-back state titles.

As a sophomore playing wide receiver, Cauley collected 31 receptions for 885 yards and nine touchdowns. In 2022, Cauley had 25 receptions for 419 yards and four scores.

While he has been utilized as a wide receiver at the high school level, the DCTF four-star ATH is versatile enough and physical enough to play several positions at the next level. The SOC coaching staff even had plans for him as an EDGE rusher but fate intervened.

"As a freshman, we really projected him as a defensive end/rush/outside linebacker position," South Oak Cliff Recruiting Coordinator Michael Traylor informed. "But he went out as a freshman and played seven-on-seven and killed the seven-on-seven circuit and by the end of the summer, he had about seven offers at receiver."

"I think he could project to both sides of the ball, but offense is where he wants to be."

All-in-all Cauley collected 25 scholarship offers, picking SMU over schools like Arkansas, Baylor, Georgia, LSU, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and USC.
