San Antonio Davenport (4-0) at Devine (5-0)

The sudden rise of first year program San Antonio Davenport has taken Class 4A by storm and the Wolves will look to close out non-district with a perfect 5-0 record. But to do so, they’ll have to pass their toughest test of the season against fellow unbeaten Devine.

The Wolves were idle last week, but they got their biggest win of the season two weeks ago knocking off 5A Lockhart 62-42 behind an incredible 372 yards and seven touchdowns from RB Shastin Golden.

Devine rolled past Uvalde 42-14 last week as the Warhorses ground game rolled up big time numbers in the first half racing out to a 28-6 lead and coasting in the second half to get the big win.

Devine will need to slow the game down and keep that explosive Davenport attack off the field. Devine is more experienced, but Davenport has the edge in size, speed and overall numbers and I think the Wolves wear Devine down in the second half.

Stepp’s Pick: San Antonio Davenport by 7
