Prospect on the Rise

Waxahachie 2023 CB Calvin Simpson (6'0, 180) added an offer from Texas Tech on Nov. 9 and committed to the Red Raiders on Nov. 22.

Scouting Report: Simpson is a cornerback recruit who excels in man coverage. He will be aggressive and is not afraid to come up and press. His size and length allow him to win contested balls in 50-50 scenarios versus top receivers. Shows good overall athleticism and has a track background.

Commit of the Week

Katy LB Ty Kana (6'2, 210) committed to Texas Tech over offers from Baylor, SMU, Oklahoma State, USC and more.

The one-time USC commit is rated as a DCTF three-star prospect, checking in at No. 67 in the DCTF Hot 100.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Kana plays in attack mode and stays in the opponents' backfield. He sheds blocks well and pursues the ball carrier—a big hitter at point of contact. The all-district selection helped Katy to the 6A Division II state championship, racking up double-digit P5 offers along the way.

Underclassmen of the Week

2023 College Station RB Marquise Collins (5'10, 190) was nominated for Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week after rushing for 308 yards and six touchdowns in a 55-21 win over Frisco Lone Star.

The DCTF four-star has also been on fire on the recruiting trail, picking up new offers from Baylor and Utah this week.

Collin now holds 10 offers: Baylor, Houston, Kansas, North Texas, Texas Tech, Utah, Utah State, UTSA, UIW and Sam Houston.

Recruit of the Week

Summer Creek 2022 OT Kelvin Banks (6'5, 300) surprised many in-state recruiting fans with a commitment to Oregon in July.

The DCTF five-star remains committed to the Ducks but has worked in recent visits to see Texas and Texas A&M.

With Early Signing Period approaching, Banks is a recruit who we are monitoring closely. Could he flip and stay closer to home?

Humble Summer Creek (9-3) will face Katy Cinco Ranch (8-4) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Houston's TDECU Stadium.
