Texas Lutheran (2-0) at Hardin-Simmons (1-0)

When: Noon Saturday at Shelton Stadium in Abilene, Texas

Broadcast: Hardin-Simmons Athletics

The Matchup: TLU hosted its first game of the spring last week and dominated the rushing game on both offense and defense. A Bulldogs win this week would likely secure the American Southwest Conference West Division title with only one more regular season game on the schedule.

HSU opened its season last week by once again securing the Wilford Moore Trophy with another dominant win over the Cowboys crosstown rival, McMurry. The Cowboys rushing attack was led by Marc Reed and dual-threat quarterback Kyle Jones with 11 different players receiving a carry last week.

Players to Watch:

TLU - Seth Cosme, QB, So, Angelton, Texas (Angelton HS)

Chris Monroe, RB, Sr, College Station, Texas (College Station HS)

Dakwa Davis, LB, Sr, Houston, Texas (Cypress Creek HS)

HSU - Kyle Jones, QB, So, Giddings, Texas (Giddings HS)

Cade Bell, WR, So, Southlake, Texas (Texas Tech)

Dedrick Strambler, WS, Sr, Midland, Texas (Midland Lee HS)

Key to Victory: This is the toughest challenge TLU has faced this season. The Bulldogs will need more from their passing game and must win the line of scrimmage to pull off the road upset this week.

HSU answered plenty of questions last week with Reed and Jones providing a punch in the running game. The biggest surprise may have been Texas Tech transfer Cade Bell, who combined with Kevi Evans can be a lethal duo. The winner of this game will be determined by who controls the trenches.

Prediction: HSU by 10
