We want to celebrate senior student-athletes across the state of Texas who have had their seasons cut short due to the Coronavirus pandemic! Have a male or female student-athlete you think deserves recognition? Email us at william.wilkerson@texasfootball.com with a bit about what makes them so special, including on-field and classroom accomplishments and pictures!

I would love to recognize my 2 senior athletes from Cypress Springs High School. Neither will be going on to play collegiate by choice, however, both have chosen to pursue academic ventures at their respective universities. Both are academic all district and academic all state.

Senior- Sydney Rollins - No. 11 (Northwestern State University): Sydney Rollins was second-team all district; averaged 7 pts, 3 rebounds and shot 42 percent from three-point range. She tore her ACL for the second time with only 4 games remaining in her senior season and decided not to play in college.

Senior- Leyla Boutte - No. 4 (Texas Southern University): Leyla Boutte did a lot of things that didn't show up on the stat sheet. She was a phenomenal teammate and was awarded honorable mention.

- Taneisha Rogers, head girls basketball coach at Cypress Springs High School
