Denton Guyer 2020 RB Kaedric Cobbs (5'11, 212) had a great first game, rushing for 220 yards and two touchdowns in a week one upset of Aledo.

Guyer is rated No. 7 in the latest DCTF 6A poll

"It motivates everyone to work harder," Cobbs said. "It's about putting our name back on the map, and it's all about restoring the pride of the Wildcats this year."

On the recruiting front, Cobbs has picked up offers from schools like  Abilene Christian, Air Force, Army, Navy, Columbia, Dartmouth, Furman, Georgetown and William & Mary.

"In the offseason, I've gotten a lot stronger than I've been and I've also gotten a lot quicker," Cobbs explained. "I've got my 40 (40-yard dash) down from a 4.7 to a 4.5 to this offseason, so I was pretty happy with that, and I've just been working on my craft; route running, so I can be used more than just a running back."

Because he has exceptional grades, Cobbs has an interesting mix of current offers, and he still has some more prominent schools chasing him as well (Vanderbilt and others).

“Abilene Christian has a special place in my heart because they were the first to offer me and it’s close to home," Cobbs said. "The academies are pretty interesting, just because you go play a different brand of football and it sets you up wonderfully for your future."

“However, there are a few other schools that have a phenomenal balance of academics and athletics that I’m interested in as well.”

Guyer (1-0) will play Cedar Hill (0-1) in the Cotton Bowl on Saturday at 10:00 am.
