Duncanville 2020 DT James Mitchell (6'2, 267) has been a hot target on the recruiting trail, but he has kept his priorities straight.
After suffering a crushing loss 6A D1 state title game, Mitchell just wants another shot.
"It was a great season," Mitchell said. "But it's not going to leave us -- that last play. What happened makes the grind worth it, because we are working to get back."
I keep saying to myself 'I still want that ring.'
On the recruiting front, Mitchell is closing in on double-digit offers.
"It has been fun," Mitchell said. "I am enjoying the ride. I have offers from Arkansas, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Minnesota, Tulane, Colorado, UNT, Grambling, and my first one was Alabama A&M."
Texas and Oklahoma are two programs that are showing Mitchell interest but have yet to offer.
"They want me to come to visit them and put a name to a face and all of that," Mitchell said.
Mitchell reports that he would like to take some official visits this spring and summer to potentially have a decision made before the start of the season.
"A family atmosphere, (a place) where I know I'm safe," Mitchell answered when asked what he was looking for. "Can I play? Will it fit me and will it benefit me? I want to graduate with a good education."
"My parents have always made sure that grades come first and everything else follows."
