Bally Sports Southwest Announces 2021 Fifth Annual Texas Football Days presented by Jack in the Box

IRVING - Bally Sports Southwest, in conjunction with the University Interscholastic League announce the return of Texas Football Days. The fifth annual gridiron celebration will feature the exclusive live broadcast of the Class 5A Division I “Battle of the Red Rail” rivalry game between Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine High School from Mustang Panther Stadium in Grapevine, TX.

Texas Football Days, presented by Jack in the Box, is a week-long programming and promotional campaign that culminates on Friday, Aug. 27 with a live game broadcast featuring Colleyville Heritage Panthers vs. Grapevine Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. CT on Bally Sports Southwest Plus.

“We created Texas Football Days to celebrate football and its positive impact on communities,” said Bally Sports Southwest Sr. Vice President/General Manager Steve Simpson. “We are proud to work with our partners at the UIL, THSCA and the THSADA to make the start of the Texas high school football season a highly anticipated event.  We look forward to highlighting this great rivalry and storytelling throughout our broadcast to showcase the unmatched passion for football in Texas.”

“The UIL is proud to partner with Bally Sports Southwest to kick off the 2021 UIL football season with the return of Texas Football Days,” said Dr. Charles Breithaupt, UIL Executive Director. “For the fifth year, Bally Sports Southwest has put together excellent programming to celebrate Texas high school football and showcase the uplifting and inspiring stories across our great state. We are excited to tune in to their week-long coverage.”  

Texas Football Days officially launches on Sunday, August 22 at 5:00 p.m. CT with the replay of the unforgettable classic 2011 UIL 2A Division II Championship between Cisco and Refugio.  Additionally, replays of high school football classics will be featured throughout the week leading up to the live telecast.

Bally Sports Southwest will provide a look at the 2021 Texas high school season with the Texas High School Football Season Preview Show presented by Jack in the BoxThe 60-minute preview special will debut on Monday, Aug. 23 at 5:00 p.m. CT and will be hosted by Ric Renner and Erin Hartigan.  The program will profile 15 top matchups from all classifications around the state and feature insights and analysis from Greg Tepper Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Managing Editor and coaching legend Ken Purcell.

Bally Sports Southwest live coverage will kick off Friday, August 27 with the Texas Football Days Pregame Show presented by Jack in the Box at 6:30 p.m. CT from the Bally Sports Studios in Irving, TX. 

The broadcast team onsite at Mustang Panther Stadium will include Hall of Fame broadcaster Craig Way with play-by-play alongside two-time Super Bowl Champion Gary Reasons as analyst with C.T. Steckel and Sarah Merrifield reporting from the sidelines. The winning team will be presented with the Battle of the Red Rail trophy, as well as, the Texas Football Days trophy.

Bally Sports Southwest will deliver live Lone Star look-ins from five games across the state capturing the local pageantry, fanfare and game updates throughout the night:

Perennial favorite High School Scoreboard Live will serve as the postgame show and wrap up the night on Bally Sports Southwest Plus. The show enters its 26th season with Renner and Tepper delivering complete recaps of the Friday night football in Texas with statewide scores, highlights and game reports.
