The University Interscholastic League (UIL), Friday released the game schedule for the 2026 UIL Football State Championships which will once again be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington December 16-19. The schedule will see some changes from the format that has held since the UIL began playing single site state championships in football in 2010, while the format and overall schedule has changed, the weekend will still feature a dozen state championship games played over the span of four days. 

Wednesday’s format will remain relatively unchanged with the Class 1A (six-man) games opening the weekend and the first UIL 11-man state title game, the 2A-Division II state championship will still be played at 7pm Wednesday night.

Thursday night is where the changes start to be made as instead of the 2A-Division I game opening the day at 11 a.m., the 3A-Division II state title game will open the tripleheader slate, with the 2A-Division I state championship game now being the middle game of the three games played Thursday, the final game of the day will be the 3A-Division I state championship game, which is no change from the previous format. 

Friday’s schedule will feature the 4A, 5A and 6A Division II state title games with the 5A-Division II state title game opening the day up. The 6A-Division II state championship game will end the day with a 7 p.m. kickoff, this is the first time since the single-site format was implemented a 6A state title game will be played on Friday. 

Saturday’s schedule will feature the same schedule as Friday, but the day will feature the Division I schools in 4A, 5A and 6A. This schedule adjustment will open up the possibility of Class 4A schools in Division I playing their state semifinal games on Saturday since their state title game is Saturday. Previously 4A schools avoided playing on Saturday's due to their state games being typically played Friday. As has been the case using the previous schedule, the 6A-Division I state championship game will cap off the 2026 Texas High School Football season with a 7 p.m. kickoff on Saturday night.
