Teams Moving UP a Classification in Realigment
Up to 6A (all teams from 5A DI unless noted otherwise)
Prosper Walnut Grove (from 5A DII)
- Prosper Walnut Grove has gone 23-3 in its first two seasons as a varsity program, and now jumps all the way from Class 5A DII to Class 6A.
Leander Rouse
- The Raiders are now 6A for the first time since 2015. Last year’s 6-4 record snapped a five-year playoff streak.
Aledo
- Aledo, whose 12 state championships are the most of any TXHSFB program, is now 6A for the first time.
Buda Hays Consolidated
- The Hawks are back in 6A for the first time since 2021.
Georgetown East View
- The Patriots’ 7-4 record under first-year head coach Bill Robertson was the first winning season since 2020.
Barbers Hill
- Barbers Hill made its first regional final since 1976 under first-year head coach Cody Simper.
Cedar Park
- Cedar Park, which had 10 double-digit-win seasons and four state championship appearances from 2010-2020, is a Class 6A program for the first time.
San Antonio Wagner
- After four years in Class 5A, the Thunderbirds are back in Class 6A.
Red Oak
- Coming off a 5-5 season, just the second time Red Oak has missed the playoffs since 2017, the Hawks are flying to 6A.
Granbury
- Granbury has had one winning season since 2013.
Leander
- Leander has not had a winning season since 2012. They are back in Class 6A for the first time since 2019.
Lake Belton
- Lake Belton, which has made the playoffs in all four years as a varsity football program, is now in Class 6A for the first time.
San Antonio Pieper
- After going 31-8 over the last three seasons, San Antonio Pieper makes the jump to Class 6A.
San Antonio Southwest
- The Dragons, who have had a winning record in seven of the last eight years, are in Class 6A for the first time since 2017.
San Antonio Legacy
- The Titans, who began varsity football in 2018, are a Class 6A program for the first time.
Frisco Wakeland
- Frisco Wakeland, coming off the best season in program history at 11-2, becomes the first of 12 Frisco ISD varsity programs to move to 6A.
Killeen Chapparal
- Killeen Chapparal, which began varsity football in 2021, has an all-time record of 8-32.
PSJA North
- PSJA North is up to Class 6A after five consecutive double-digit win seasons. The streak started with a 10-3 record in 2021, the last year as a Class 6A program.
Crosby
- Crosby becomes the smallest team in Class 6A with an enrollment of 2,217 students. Defensive coordinator Jabara Williams will take over for former HC Joe Willis, who stepped down after compiling a 12-20 record in three seasons.

- The Chargers went 12-2 in their second season as a varsity program last year.

Ponder has not made the playoffs since 2016. The Lions started 4-0 in 2025 but dropped five of their last six games.
Iowa Park (3A DI to 4A DII)

Iowa Park, which hasn’t had a winning season since 2020, is now the smallest school in Class 4A DII.

Mildred (2A DI to 3A DII)

After going 21-4 over the last two seasons, Mildred bumps to 3A.
Schulenburg (2A DI to 3A DII)

Schulenburg is back in Class 3A for the first time since 2019 after back-to-back appearances in the second round of the playoffs.
Hamilton (2A DI to 3A DII)

The reigning state champions in Class 2A DI are now the second-smallest school in Class 3A.
A correction was made on January 1: Boys Ranch is not moving up to 2A and will still play six-man football.
