South Grand Prairie (8-0, 6-0) at Arlington Bowie (7-2, 6-0):

There aren’t a ton of marquee games on the docket this week from a statewide perspective, but this might be the game of the night in DFW on Thursday as the 8-6A title is on the line.

SGP has been one of the surprise teams in the area this year. The Warriors have rattled off eight straight wins to open the season after taking care of a tricky Haltom squad last week, 30-6.

The Warriors defense held a strong Haltom ground game in check, while QB Daylon Brooks had another big night throwing for 248 yards and three scores.

Bowie dug itself an early hole against Lamar, but the Vols rallied down the stretch to take down Arlington Lamar 45-38.

Bowie TE Deontae Tennison caught a two-yard pass from QB Jayden Bibbs for the deciding touchdown with 5:08 left in the game; it was Tennison’s second touchdown catch of the night. RB Denzel Ponder had a big night as well with 188 yards on the ground and three scores.

Expect a shootout in this one as both offenses are extremely potent. The difference here is SGP’s opportunistic defense; the Warriors come up with a couple of turnovers and that’s the difference for this senior-laden squad.

Stepp’s Pick: South Grand Prairie by 10
