Sinton (5-0) at Corpus Christi Calallen (4-1):
It’s a lighter than usual schedule statewide, but down on the coast there’s a big game at the 4A level as unbeaten and state-ranked Sinton visits Calallen to close out the non-district slate.
Sinton got pushed last week by Corpus Christi Miller, but in crunch time the Pirates had answers in a 35-20 win. Once again it was RB Mykha Green, who stole the show for Sinton with four touchdown runs to lead the charge.
Calallen escaped an upset bid from Rockport-Fulton, 43-36. The Pirates trailed by 10 in the first half and trailed going into the fourth but the Wildcats were able to get a pair of late scores to rally. WR Drayson Gamez had a long touchdown reception and also had a monster kickoff return to set up another Calallen score.
The Wildcats defense, especially against the run, is a bit of concern this week as Green and Sinton QB Quincy Bess can make you pay in the running game.
