Port Arthur Memorial 2026 ILB Tank King (6'2, 205), chose Texas A&M over Texas, Michigan and Notre Dame.

King checks in as the state's No. 1 ILB per the DCTX Rising 100.

According to his high school head coach, Brian Morgan, the Aggies are getting more than just a highly rated recruit; they’re getting a relentless worker built for SEC ball.

“We knew when we saw him play in middle school that he was a super talented kid,” Morgan said. “It’s always interesting to see how some of those kids continue to develop. Some stop that development early, but he’s continued to get better.”

King, who’s known for his physical style of play and football IQ, attacks every day to get ready for the next level.

“He’s just a really, really hard worker. He understands what it’s going to take to play at the next level in terms of athleticism and speed,” Morgan said. “Even this year, he stopped playing baseball so he could focus on track. He’s not a state meet guy, but he’s out there on the track working to improve himself, which obviously benefits us in the fall.”

That commitment to personal growth shows up in more than just the weight room or training schedule. Morgan emphasized that King’s support system has played a key role in shaping the type of player and person he’s become.

“If he’s not here, he’s somewhere working out with somebody. That’s who he is,” Morgan said. “Great kid. Great family. He’s very dependable. He’s not going to play around.”

“They’ve raised him really, really well,” Morgan said. “You wish you had more kids and families like that around the program.”

King collected 141 tackles, 23 TFLS and three sacks to earn first-team 9-5A Division I all-district honors.

Scouting Report: Tank is a fitting name for this physical inside backer. He closes quickly on the football, flashing explosive downhill burst and violent intent. With strong, heavy hands, he consistently sheds blockers and resets the line of scrimmage. On passing downs, he becomes a disruptive weapon who can run with the quickest players on the field. King plays with purpose and embodies the role of an enforcer in the heart of the defense.
