Carthage 2026 RB KJ Edwards (5'9, 175) has committed to Texas A&M over offers from Texas and LSU.

"Coach Trooper (Taylor) and Coach (Mike) Elko have been there since day one," Edwards explained. "They’ve been consistent, reaching out to me and my family. That means a lot to me—when a coach involves my whole family."

Edwards is ranked No. 6 overall in the 2026 DCTF Rising 100, making him the top-rated in-state running back to commit to the Aggies since Rueben Owens in 2023. He also ranks as the No. 3 RB commitment in A&M’s DCTF-era history (2012–present).

He was a force as a junior, rushing for 1,789 yards and 23 touchdowns while adding 383 receiving yards and three scores on 30 receptions to lead Carthage to the 4A Division II state title. He earned Offensive MVP honors in the state championship game.

In his Texas high school career to date, Edwards has already amassed 4,030 rushing yards and 54 touchdowns.

"KJ Edwards is lightning in a bottle," Carthage HC Scott Surratt reported. "He is a three-down back who is a touchdown waiting to happen."

KJ's younger brother, 2028 ATH JD Edwards (5'9, 150), also already holds a Texas A&M offer.
