Today’s Spotlight: Bremond Tigers

The Rundown

Bremond is an agricultural small town dynasty with two distinct golden eras. The Tigers made three-consecutive state championships from 1981-83 under head coach Bill Cummings, winning the program’s first state title in 1981. But the school was oft the bridesmaid until quarterback Roshauud Paul and coach Jeff Kasowski engineered a three-peat from 2014-16.

Glory Days

The second champion of Bremond’s three-peat from 2014-16 takes the title for the best team in program history. The 2015 Tigers only scored under 40 points in one game - a 35-20 victory over Albany in the state championship. Bremond had the District 13-2A Overall MVP (QB Roshauud Paul) Offensive MVP (WR Rayandre Browning) Defensive MVP (DB Josh White) and Newcomer of the Year (QB/LB Michael Pruitt).

The GOAT

Quarterback Roshauud Paul was the pioneer of the three-peat, winning all three Offensive MVPs, and had a 47-0 record as a starting quarterback. Paul earned Mr. Texas Football honors in 2016 after leading all of Class 2A with 2,892 yards and 55 touchdowns. Paul played at Texas A&M as a wide receiver and return specialist.

The Architect

After serving on Bremond’s staff as an assistant, Jeff Kasowski took over a perennial winner that often lost the biggest one (1-4 in state championship games) and coached it to a three-peat. Kasowski has a 142-44 overall record and has won at least one playoff game in 12 of his 14 seasons.

Battle Lines

Bremond vs Chilton is one of central Texas’ best small-school rivalries. Located just 30 minutes apart, both schools have rich football traditions that often meet for a district clash. Bremond snapped a three-year losing streak to Chilton with a 34-14 win in 2024.

Home Turf

Bremond has played home games at Tiger Stadium since 1997, with new turf installed in 2015. The 1,695-capacity field is outlined by the words “Tiger Pride,” perfectly embodying what football means to the community.

The Year That Was

The Tigers 12-3 run to the state semifinals was their best season since 2016, the third of three-straight state championships. Junior linebacker Tank Scott earned District 10-2A DII Co-MVP honors with 1,954 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns and … checks notes … 191 tackles. Paired with linebacker Eddy Carrizales (186 tackles, 10 TFL), Bremond’s defense allowed just 12 points per game in their four playoff wins.

Looking Ahead

Bremond figures to be in the state championship picture with eight returning starters on offense and its entire defense back. Sophomore quarterback Sam Kasowski earned District 10-2A DII Co-Newcomer of the Year with 2,328 passing yards and 27 touchdowns. He has both his top two weapons in RB Scott and a now-healthy WR Tristan Morehead (893 yards and 12 touchdowns), who missed six games due to injury last year.

Xs and Os

Offense – Spread
Defense – 3-4

On the Rise

Class of 2028 outside linebacker Jaden Scott had 108 tackles as a freshman, earning Second Team All-District 10-2A DII. Scott (6-1,180) and runs a 4.4 40-yard dash.

In Their Own Words

“Our kids' pride in our football program shows in their work ethic and expectation of success on Friday nights.  Our parents and community have everything to do with that mindset as they support our kids in every way possible.” - Jeff Kasowski
