Baylor defensive lineman Alex Foster, 18, passed away unexpectedly while home for summer break in Mississippi. Baylor Athletics confirmend the news in an official statement. A cause of death was not given.

Foster, a redshirt freshman out of St. Joseph High School in Greenville, Miss, was the highest-rated high school recruit in Baylor's 2024 class. He did not see action last fall, but was expected to play a role on the two-deep in 2025.

"Alex was a beloved member of our Baylor Family, and we are devastated by this loss," Baylor head coach Dave Aranda said in a post on his X account. "In his time at Baylor he made a long-lasting impact on all of us in the program. Our hearts are broken, and our prayers are with his family, friends and all those who loved him so deeply."
