SMU and LSU announced a home-and-home series set to start in 2028. The Tigers will host the Mustangs on Sept. 2, 2028, before making the return trip to Dallas on Sept. 1, 2029. This adds to a growing list of marquee games at Ford Stadium that include Baylor in 2025 and Oklahoma. The Ponies hosted Florida State last season in AAC play and Miami is set to visit the Hilltop this year.
SMU finished 11-3 with a trip to the ACC championship game and the College Football Playoffs in Year 1 as a Power Four program. The Mustangs have won 11 games in consecutive seasons and have won 10-plus games in three of the last six. The 2025 season begins on Aug. 30 at home against East Texas A&M. They then host Baylor, travel to Missouri State, and then to TCU to finish off the non-conference schedule.
