Copperas Cove High School (2004-2007)

Position - Quarterback

Coach – Jack Welch

Robert Griffin III led Copperas Cove to the 4A Division I state championship game in both 2006 and 2007. Over those two seasons as the Bulldogs' starting quarterback, he threw for 3,357 yards with 41 touchdowns and only nine interceptions. On the ground, he added 2,161 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns.

Griffin was also an accomplished track star, breaking state records in the 110-meter hurdles (13.55 seconds) and the 300-meter hurdles (35.33), narrowly missing the national high school record in the 300 hurdles by just 1/100th of a second. His standout performances earned him the title of 2006 Gatorade Texas Track and Field Athlete of the Year, and in 2007, he was named to the USA TODAY All-USA Track and Field team.

At Baylor, RG3 helped transform the football program, throwing for 10,366 yards and rushing for 2,254 yards over 41 games. He capped his college career with six straight wins to close the 2011 season, including victories over No. 5 Oklahoma and No. 22 Texas. That remarkable performance earned him the 2011 Heisman Trophy—the first in Baylor’s history.

Griffin was selected as the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. He led the team to the playoffs in his rookie season and was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Over seven NFL seasons, he started 42 of 56 games, passing for 9,271 yards and 43 touchdowns. He also became the youngest quarterback in NFL history to start a playoff game.

Following his playing career, Griffin transitioned to broadcasting, where he has become a respected analyst, known for his insightful commentary on NFL games and player performances.
