Named MaxPreps Male Athlete of the Year for the 2013-14 school year, Patrick Mahomes II had an exceptional high school career with the Whitehouse Wildcats. As a junior, Mahomes threw for 3,839 yards and 46 touchdowns, rushed for 248 yards and 6 touchdowns, and helped Whitehouse finish with a 10-2 record. As a senior, he threw for 4,619 yards and 50 touchdowns, while rushing for 948 yards and 15 touchdowns; leading Whitehouse to an undefeated regular season and a 12-1 overall record.
At Texas Tech (2014-2016), Mahomes passed for 11,252 yards and 93 touchdowns while rushing for 1,349 yards and 22 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he threw for 4,653 yards and 36 touchdowns with 456 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. As a junior, his last season in college before turning pro, Mahomes threw for 5,052 yards and 41 touchdowns with 285 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. He was inducted into the Texas Tech Sports Hall of Fame and Football Ring of Honor in 2022.
The Kansas City Chiefs selected Mahomes with the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Since, he has become one of the NFL's brightest stars. Through eight seasons (2017-2024), Mahomes has thrown for 32,352 passing yards and 245 touchdowns, while rushing for 2,243 yards and 14 TDs. Mahomes has led the Chiefs to five Super Bowls, won three, and earned Super Bowl MVP in each victory. His 17 playoff wins are second all-time among quarterbacks. He has been selected to six Pro Bowls, named NFL MVP twice, and earned 1st-team All-Pro honors twice.
