Former Texas Tech offensive lineman and current chairman of the Board of Regents for the Red Raiders, Cody Campbell, is expected to be the co-chair of the Presidential Commission on college sports along with legendary head coach Nick Saban, sources confirm to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

President Donald Trump is planning to create a presidential commission after speaking with Saban last week, according to Yahoo! Sports. The former head coach at Alabama is concerned about the future of college football and the unregulated NIL market and a host of other issues facing the sport. The commission would be tasked with finding solutions for those issues.

Leaders in college sports have turned to the federal government for years while lobbying for congressional help to try and help provide stability to college athletics. Issues like the transfer portal, potential employment for players, the application of Title IX, and the impact of revenue sharing figure to be main focal points.

The NCAA and its conference agreed to a settlement in a trio of antitrust cases involving athlete compensation and that settlement is heading towards approval. The last sticking point appears to be related to roster limits and the potential loss of walk-ons.
