Galena Park North Shore 2026 S Chace Calicut (6'3, 190) is the latest national recruit to emerge from one of the state's most talent-rich programs.

The four-star prospect is rated as the No. 2 safety in Texas, embracing his role as the face of the Mustangs’ defense.

"I take being a leader seriously. We’ve got some young guys who are excited to get out there on the field, and I think we’ll be all right," Calicut said.

An abundance of college coaches have taken note of Calicut's skillset as he has secured over 30 offers and is preparing for a June filled with official visits: Washington (June 6), Texas (June 13) and Michigan (June 20).

Calicut is fresh off his first official visit to Ole Miss, and the Rebels are a clear contender as well.

"They've always been hitting my phone since they offered, making me feel wanted," Calicut explained.

Calicut has been building strong relationships, specifically mentioning Duane Akina (Texas), Taylor Mays (Washington), Lamar Morgan (Michigan) and Wes Neighbors III (Ole Miss), who have been instrumental in his recruitment so far.

The 'Horns are Calicut's top in-state option, and they are a serious threat to land him.

“Yeah, UT was real smooth," CaliIcut said of a recent unofficial visit. "I loved the crawfish boil, I loved the energy. It was real nice out there—real joyful. It feels like home there.”

At the end of the day, the official visits will be key in his decision-making process.

"Seeing what really feels like home," calicut said. "The players there too—see what kind of players they are, how they move, if they are like me. I’m not gonna go somewhere I don’t feel wanted.”

Calicut hopes to announce his commitment “somewhere in July."

Note: Georgia is the latest program to make a strong move for Calicut, visiting him on Tuesday and extending an offer. The Bulldogs are a team to watch for a potential official visit in late May or early June.
