BREAKING: Texas 7-on-7 State Tournament Dates, SQTs Announced

What has become an annual rite of passage for Texas High School Football players in the summer will once again return to the Brazos Valley this June as the 2025 Texas State 7-on-7 Tournament will be held June 26-28 at Veterans Park in College Station.

The Texas State 7-on-7 Board of Directors also released the schedule of State Qualifying Tournaments (SQTs) where teams will punch their tickets to the State Tournament. The schedule for SQTs is listed at the link below:

The Texas State 7-on-7 Tournament is divided into three divisions:

Division I is comprised  of teams that compete in Class 6A and 5A, plus TAPPS Division I and SPC in the private school ranks

Defending Champion: DeSoto

 

Division II is comprised of teams that compete Class 4A and 3A DIvision I,  plus all other private school teams

Defending Champion: Hamshire-Fannett

 

Division III is comprised of teams that compete in Class 3A Division II and smaller

Defending Champion: Gunter

 

Highlights from the Schedule for Each Division

Division I

*State Qualifying begins April 19 at Coppell with a 24-team event that will take three teams to the State Tournament

*Laredo is the lone new host tournament with that SQT taking two qualifying spots from the Valley who remains with two tournaments, but they will be sixteen team events instead of twenty-four. The inaugural SQT in Laredo will be May 31.

*The weekend of June 12-14 will be the busiest weekend of qualifying featuring seven tournaments

*Qualifying wraps up on Saturday June 21 in Weslaco at the last chance Mid-Valley SQT. 

 

Division II

*State Qualifying begins May 3 in Hamshire-Fannett

*Cameron Yoe returns to hosting in 2025 after not hosting in 2024 due to a coaching transition, their SQT will be held on Saturday June 14

*The weekend of May 31 will be busiest weekend of qualifying with six tournaments that weekend

*Qualifying wraps up Friday June 20 with the Battle at the Bay SQT in Port Isabel

 

Division III

*State Qualifying begins May 17 with tournaments at Millsap which is a new SQT host site and Corrigan-Camden

*In addition to Millsap, Tidehaven and Howard Payne University are new host sites for 2025

*The weekend of May 30-31 will be the busiest weekend of qualifying featuring seven tournaments

*Qualifying wraps up Friday June 13 with the Howard Payne SQT in Brownwood and the Sudan SQT in Sudan
