Humble Atascocita (2-0) at Austin Westlake (2-0)

It’s a top-10 showdown in the Capital City as two of the state’s top teams in 6A collide in a fascinating Houston vs Austin matchup.

Atascocita pulled away last week with a dominant final three quarters to beat Katy, 41-24, despite trailing 14-0 early on. QB Cardae Mack led the Eagles' attack with 356 yards of offense and four total touchdowns, three through the air. If you pay too much attention to Mack, Oklahoma commit Tory Blaylock is fully capable of taking a game over himself.

Westlake had no trouble last week with San Benito as the Chaparrals dominated from start to finish in an easy 63-7 victory. Cal Livengood and Justice Johnson each tallied two rushing touchdowns, while junior signal-caller Rees Wise tossed a pair of touchdowns in the first half as backups played most of the second half for Tony Salazar’s squad.

Atascocita’s speed will pose problems for Westlake, but the Chaps have a big edge up front along with homefield advantage.
