It’s a regional semifinal playoff rematch from a year ago as Midland Legacy takes the five-plus hour trip east to clash with Allen.
Legacy showed an ability to move the ball on Allen a year ago, but they'll be without stud QB Marcos Davila, who is now at Purdue. The keys to the factory will be given to dual-threat QB Jaden Rogers, who has a veteran core of WRs to work with led by WR Aiden Serrano. Replacing a strong offensive line and a good RB are big question marks for the Rebels.
Allen, which made a surprise regional final run a year ago, have a tremendous returning cast of skill players led by QB Brady Bricker, RB Micah Ellis, WR Donnell Gee and ATH Caleb Smith. Where the Eagles do have questions will be along the defensive line where AHS was hit hard by graduation. That being said, Midland Legacy’s defense against the upper tier DFW teams hasn’t shown the ability to consistently slow offenses down, so give the edge to Allen going into this one at home.
