Taylor 2023 CB Jarvis Anderson (5'10, 165) missed the UIL State Track Meet in 2022 to compete in the Deaflympics (Caxias do Sul), where he won a bronze medal in the 400m Hurdles and the 4x100.

But he returned to the UIL competition with a vengeance in 2023, capturing gold in three different 4A events: Triple Jump (49-6.00), 110m Hurdles (13.64), and the 300m Hurdles (35.96), breaking a record in the 300m Hurdles.

"I was able to accomplish what I had set out to do," Anderson explained. "And that was to break the state 300H record and (I) was hoping to break RG3's record (Robert Griffin III ran a 35.33 for Copperas Cove in 2007), but I fell short.

"I want to open the doors for others like me to have the same chance. I'm not a deaf athlete; I'm an athlete who happens to be deaf.

"I'm pleased with my success and thankful for coach (Earven) Flowers believing in me and training me even when some recruiters never looked my way, not because of my times but because I'm deaf."

Anderson, a DCTF three-star football prospect in the Class of 2023, was offered and signed to play his college football with SFA.

"I'm thankful for SFA who saw in me what many missed, and I plan on keeping the same mission 'unfinished business' at the college level," Anderson stated.

Anderson will also run track in Nacogdoches.

"Jarvis is one of the more athletic players we've ever signed here," SFA head coach Coby Carthel exclaimed. "He'll be a two-sport star for the Lumberjacks."
