Sherman ISD Athletic Director Jeff Cordell announced the hiring of former Denton Braswell offensive coordinator Josh Aleman as the next head football coach at Sherman High School on Friday afternoon.

He replaces Cory Cain, who resigned in mid-April.

Aleman spent the 2022 season on Cody Moore’s staff as the offensive coordinator at Denton Braswell. He was slated to join the staff at Prosper Rock Hill after the coaching change at Braswell.

Aleman does have three years experience as a head coach in the area as he led Class 3A S&S Consolidated from 2019-2021. After a tough initial season where the Rams went 1-9, Aleman’s squad turned it around in 2020 going 6-5 and advancing to the area round of the playoffs, S&S Consolidated’s first playoff victory since 2014.

Aleman is a Sherman graduate. After his playing days wrapped up at Texas Tech, he started his coaching career where he coached at Bells and Sherman. He takes over a Sherman program that's growing rapidly and is likely making the move to Class 6A in the 2024 UIL Realignment.
