Dripping Springs 2024 OT Jacob Ponton (6'7, 250) committed to Texas Tech over offers from Texas State and Tulsa.
The DCTF three-star earned first-team all-district honors as a junior in 2022.
Scouting Report: Ponton is an athletic offensive lineman who has grown into a top-tier recruit as he has matured in the Dripping Springs program. He has he frame to add and hold good weight once he arrives in the college strength and conditioning program.

San Antonio O'Connor 2024 OC Briley Brown (6'3, 195) committed to UTSA over UIW, Texas Tech and Louisiana Tech offers.
Brown is rated as a DCTF three-star prospect and is the first verbal commitment for the Roadrunners in the Class of 2024.

Underclassman of the Week
South Oak Cliff 2025 LB Jayden "JJ" Shelton (6'3, 230) was recently named as a DCTF four-star, and in the past 24 hours, he has added new offers from Texas, Texas A&M and Stanford.
Shelton has also picked up offers from Nebraska, Oregon, LSU, Miami (FL), Notre Dame and Tennessee this week, bringing his offer total to 15.
Shelton is a key figure in the SOC LB unit, featuring 2024 North Texas commmit Brandon Jones and 2025 four-star Kelvion Riggins.
Recruit of the Week
Melissa 2024 DE Nigel Smith (6'5, 250) announced he would take six official visits to Rutgers, Ohio State, Penn State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Texas.
Smith is the first known prospect in Texas to confirm that he would take more than five official visits, a rule that the NCAA recently amended.
Smith is a DCTF four-star prospect, checking in at No. 11 overall in the 2024 Rising Hot 100.
