Houston running back Alton McCaskill is expected to enter the transfer portal, according to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic.

McCaskill was expected to be Houston’s key skill position player this season after missing all of 2022 with a torn ACL. Feldman also reports that Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders will likely be very involved in his portal recruitment.

The Conroe Oak Ridge product burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2021 rushing for over 900 yards, 1,074 all-purpose yards. He was named Texas Football’s Offensive Freshman of the Year as well as to the Second-Team All-AAC team. In his absence last season, former Houston quarterback Clayton Tune led the team in rushing with 544 yards.

A team already in need a player depth, Houston will likely now turn to leading returning rusher Stacy Sneed (517 yards, 5 touchdowns).
