Comfort will be in search of a new head coach for the 2023 season as head coach Brandon Easterly resigned his post after five seasons and will join Gerry Stanford’s staff at Class 5A Texarkana Texas High.

Easterly, has spent much of his coaching career in Northeast Texas was the defensive coordinator on Texarkana Pleasant Grove’s first state title team in 2017 first was a head coach in DeKalb where he spent two seasons leading the Class 3A Bears program.

In 2018, Easterly came down to the Hill Country to take over Comfort and in his second season leading the Bobcats, he led Comfort to an impressive 10-3 overall record in 2019. In 2020, Comfort made the move from Class 3A-Division II to Class 3A-Division I and in their first season the Bobcats posted a 7-4 overall record.

The last two seasons have proved to be challenging for CHS as they’ve been trying to rebuild, but in 2022, Coach Easterly did get Comfort back into the playoffs with a 3-8 overall record.

A potential complication to the search for a new head coach at Comfort is the fact that Comfort ISD is also searching for a new superintendent, so at this time there’s no word from sources inside off the district on a timeline for naming a new head coach.
