Utah State cornerback Ajani Carter, best known for his miraculous Hail Mary catch as a wide receiver for Galena Park North Shore in the Class 6A-Division I state championship game, has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to 247Sports.

In the 2018 state championship game, Carter then a verbal commit to UTEP, came down with the last second touchdown reception from Dematrius Davis in the corner of the end zone to lift North Shore to a state title over Duncanville in a game considered by most to be one of the greatest games in the history of Texas High School Football.

Carter, who signed with Utah State in February 2019, had 89 tackles and four interceptions in 2021 and 2022 playing cornerback for the Aggies under head coach Blake Anderson.

He has one season of eligibility remaining after playing some offense and mostly on special teams during his first two seasons at Utah State.

Carter was an all-academic Mountain West selection in 2020.
