Katy Seven Lakes quarterbacks coach Coach Bill Garrey has been named the new head coach at Dulles High School, Fort Bend ISD announced on Tuesday.

He replaces Shane Byrd, who departed coaching to take a job in the family business in the Brazos Valley.

“I’m really excited to get this chance to finally be a head coach,” Garrey said. “I’ve got a great connection to Dulles and Fort Bend ISD, my wife has worked there and it’s where I spent the most time as a coach myself.”

Garrey, who is a 30-year veteran of coaching, has extensive ties to Fort Bend ISD spending time as an offensive coordinator at three different FBISD high schools, including Dulles, where he spent eight seasons. Garrey also was the offensive coordinator at Clements and Ridge Point.

Garrey has been on the staff at Katy Seven Lakes the past three seasons where he’s coached quarterbacks under head coach Jimmy Hamon. Garrey, who is a native of Plano, has also spent time coaching at Allen and Plano as well.

“Dulles is the original school in Fort Bend and is the flagship school in the district in my view,” he said. “I appreciate the tradition of Dulles and I’m looking forward to getting in there and hitting the ground running.”
