Bruni High School head coach Richard Johnson announced his resignation after leading the Badgers program the past four seasons where he posted a 22-18 overall record in four seasons.

Multiple sources indicate the Missouri native will move to the college ranks, where he’s likely to join the staff at the University of Incarnate Word as an analyst on the defensive side of the ball.

Johnson led Bruni to the playoffs in all four seasons and he had the Badgers into the area round of the playoffs three straight years from 2019-2021. 2020 may have been his best coaching job to date as with Covid-19 raging in South Texas and dealing with numerous restrictions, including playing just five regular season games. Bruni was able to advance to the playoffs and win a playoff game finishing the season at 4-3.In 2022 he led the Badgers to a district title as well.
