Big Sandy ISD is bringing one of their own home as late Tuesday night the district announced the hiring of Grand Saline assistant coach Brian Pullum as the next Athletic Director/Head Football Coach at Big Sandy High School.

Pullum handled many duties while at Grand Saline and was also the district's assistant athletic director.

He and his wife are both graduates of Big Sandy. He has one son who has graduated from Big Sandy as well and a daughter who attends Big Sandy schools, so Pullum’s ties to the district are extensive. He is a college graduate of Southern Arkansas University.

Coach Pullum has spent all 22 of his years coaching in East Texas. He started out as an assistant at Big Sandy and was on staff in 2005 when the Wildcats made a run all the way to the state title game. He also spent several seasons at Mineola where he was part of a staff that won the 2016 state title and also played for a state title in 2014.

Pullum has also coached boys and girls basketball along with boys and girls track in his coaching career.

“We are excited about bringing Coach Pullum back to Big Sandy,” BSISD Superintendent Mike Burns told In a statement to KLTV in Tyler. “Coach Pullum has experience as both a boys and girls coach and we believe that experience will grow our entire athletic program for both our boys and girls student-athletes.”
