Denton Guyer loses DCTF Top 10 prospects Jackson Arnold and Peyton Bowen to Oklahoma, but Reed Heim and Co. still have plenty of reasons to smile as the program boasts notable prospects in 2024 and beyond.  

Class of 2024

CB Eli Bowen (5'9, 170): Bowen is best described as a ball magnet. He collected 10 interceptions during his sophomore campaign, which convinced the opposition to try and avoid him. However, he still found ways to make plays—a well-rounded defender who is excellent in press and one-on-one situations. Bowen is maturing physically in the offseason, adding muscle to his frame. The Guyer defense allows him to play a lot of man coverage, and he is rarely beaten. The younger brother of Class of 2023 Oklahoma signee Peyton Bowen has collected over 20 scholarship offers. Schools of note are Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU, Texas A&M and Nebraska. 

OG Willie Goodacre (6'4, 310): Goodacre anchored the Wildcats' offensive line in 2022, playing left tackle and protecting five-star QB Jackson Arnold's blindside. Big and powerful, he has the look of an offensive guard, but he has the wingspan and reach of an offensive tackle. Goodacre is an intriguing prospect with a high potential for development. He recently earned OL MVP honors at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in Dallas. Goodacre has a wide array of interest, but recently some P5 schools like Arizona State, BYU, Cal, Houston, Michigan State, Missouri and Nebraska have offered.

WR Josiah Martin (6'0, 165): Martin is a highly athletic wide receiver with a knack for making plays in the deep passing game; it is his calling card. He is also an excellent route runner, and his quarterback can depend on him to get open in one-on-one situations. He will be leaned on even more next season now that veteran pass-catcher Landon Sides has moved on to North Texas. Recruiting wise, Martin has collected over 20 scholarship offers and has a wide and varied list of suitors. Baylor and Utah offered him very early in the process, and Arkansas, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State and Tennessee offers are noteworthy. DT Pelumi Olanipekun (6'0, 285): The heart and soul of the Denton Guyer defensive front is always an active presence who plays with a high motor. He's still a sleeper on the recruiting front, but he has been highly productive versus elite levels of competition. Olanipekun racked up 74 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, and four sacks to earn 5-6A Defensive Line MVP honors. 

DB Caleb Rowe (5'9, 175): Keep an eye on Rowe's recruitment. The district's Defensive Newcomer of the Year collected 104 tackles and two interceptions. He is a good student, boasts a 405-pound squat, and has been tracked at 21.40 MPHs, the second-fastest prospect in the program.

Class of 2025

OL Vance Adams (6'5, 275) & OT Brody Hamilton (6'4, 270): Guyer will be restocking on the offensive line, so keep an eye on these two up-and-comers. Adams had a dominant year at the sub-varsity level, and Hamilton has already had the opportunity to see some varsity action. The offseason and spring practice will be integral for their development as prospects. 

DX Xavier Ukponu (6'3, 275): Ukponu won DL MVP honors at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in Dallas, and since then, his recruitment has hit warp speed, picking up ten offers since January 15th. Miami (FL) was offer No. 1 and Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M and Baylor quickly followed. Ohio State has also started showing serious interest. A naturally gifted physical specimen, Ukponu uses his hands well to redirect blocks and rarely gets out of position. He is still maturing from a developmental standpoint, making his upside tremendous.

Class of 2026

S Kaedyn Cobbs (6'1, 180): The younger brother of UTSA RB Kaedric Cobbs will get a chance to show what he can do this Spring to earn playing time in a Guyer secondary that will need to fill the void left by the departure of the talented senior group. Cobbs is already an outlier with 21.01 MPH speed. 

WR Corbin Glasco (5'10, 155): Glasco was one of the area's most impressive sub-varsity players, scoring 18 touchdowns and collecting five interceptions as a freshman. He is still growing, but he passes the eyeball test for a youngster and possesses 10.9 100-meter speed. Glasco is the type who could be moved around the offense to create mismatches and will be a force on the return unit. His game-changing speed should land him on college radars early.
