Sources confirm to DCTF that Jacksonville Jaguars assistant Chris Jackson is accepting a job with the Longhorns as wide receiver coach. Texas needed to replace Brennan Marion after one year in Austin after he was hired as the offensive coordinator at UNLV. Jackson spent one year in Jacksonville where his wide receiver group caught 238 passes for 2,677 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Texas took steps to complete its football staff over the past two days by adding former Austin LBJ head coach Jahmal Fenner as Director of High School Relations to replace Chris Gilbert, who took an on-field coaching job at North Texas.
The Longhorns won eight games in year two under Steve Sarkisian. Texas is expected to be one of the 2023 Big 12 favorites in what might the last year in the conference before a move to the SEC.
