The transfer portal continues to be populated by college stars looking for new homes. Here are the 10 best player available who played high school football in the state of Texas. These players were available as of Jan. 5.

1. Levi Bell, DL, Cedar Park
Previous school: Texas State
Bell landed at Texas State at a whirlwind tour across college football following a prep career at Cedar Park. He started at the NAIA level with College of Idaho in 2018. He then played 2019 at Tyler Junior College. Bell took his first crack at FBS football with La Tech in 2020 and 2021. But he came into his own at Texas State in 2022. He was a first-team All-Texas selection at DCFT and a second-team All-Sun Belt selection. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

2. Malik Hornsby, QB, Fort Bend Marshall
Previous school: Arkansas
The former four-star signal-caller carries multiple years of eligibility after a three-year stint at Arkansas. He took a redshirt year in 2020 after appearing in just one game. He played seven times as a redshirt freshman in 2021, attempting 12 passes and rushing the ball 24 times. He increased those numbers slightly in eight games last season. Hornsby led Marshall to a state title appearance in high school and might be the fastest quarterback in college football.

3. Damieon George, OL, Galena Park North Shore
Previous school: Alabama
George spent one year at North Shore before committing to Alabama. He helped the Mustangs win the Class 6A Division I championship in 2019 and was a three-star recruit who projected as a starter at the major Power Five level. He played in a few games as a freshman in 2020 and then earned his way into the starting lineup by the end of the 2021 season at right tackle. He only played twice in 2022.

4. Spencer Sanders, QB, Denton Ryan
Previous school: Oklahoma State
The former four-star recruit packs plenty of college experience into his luggage as he exits Stillwater. He was the All-Big 12 quarterback as a junior in 2021 after leading the Cowboys to conference title game. Sanders looked to be en route to repeating as the Big 12 quarterback of the year until injuries midway through the season hobbled him and Oklahoma State’s chances at a crown. He’s part of a mass exodus out of Mike Gundy’s program.

5. J. Michael Sturdivant, WR, Flower Mound Marcus
Previous school: Cal
Sturdivant broke out as a redshirt freshman in 2022, starting 12 games and leading Cal with 65 receptions and seven touchdowns. He was second on the team with 755 yards receiving. That earned his Freshman All-American honors from The Athletic and was an honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection.

6. Ish Harris, LB, Pilot Point
Previous school: Texas A&M
Harris is one of the members of that historic 2022 class signed by Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M who is already looking for a new home after one year in College Station. The former four-star recruit was a two-way star who also played basketball and ran track at Class 3A Pilot Point. Harris redshirted in 2022 at Texas A&M and has four years of eligibility remaining.

7. Clayton Smith, Edge, Texas High School
Previous school: Oklahoma
Smith was a four-star outside linebacker from Texarkana who combines length and athleticism as an edge rusher. He spent two years at Oklahoma, barely playing both seasons. He should have three years left of eligibility. Smith played in four games in both 2021 and 2022. Smith’s 6-4, 245-pound frame and his athleticism still makes him an intriguing prospect.

8. Bryson Green, WR, Allen
Previous school: Oklahoma State
Green was second on the Oklahoma State squad with 36 catches for 584 yards and five scores as a sophomore in 2022. He caught 12 passes and two touchdowns as a freshman in 2021. He’s part of a talented family of pass catchers. His twin brother, Blaine, also played at Oklahoma State. His other brother, Seth, started his career at Minnesota before transferring to Houston prior to the 2021 season.

9. Lorando Johnson, DB, Lancaster
Previous school: Baylor
The man called “Snaxx” spent three years at Baylor after helping Lancaster to an 11-win season as a senior in 2019. The four-star took a redshirt in 2020 and then played in eight games, starting once, as a redshirt freshman in 2021. That one start was in a Sugar Bowl win over Ole Miss. He missed six games due to injury. He played in 12 games as a sophomore in 2022, accounting for 16 tackles, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble.

10. Sawyer Robertson, QB, Lubbock Coronado
Previous school: Mississippi State
A four-star prospect out of West Texas, Robertson was a reserve during his two years at Mississippi State under Mike Leach. He took a redshirt in 2021 and appeared in five games last year, completing six of 11 pass attempts for 23 yards.
