Houston Christian coach Braxton Harris has been extremely busy since assuming the head coaching duties in the middle of December. The Huskies have made waves across the FCS landscape with multiple 3-star commitments in the last few weeks.

Sources have indicated to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football the Huskies coaching staff is beginning to take shape. Harris is expected to retain safeties coach Roger Hinshaw, who has been with Huskies since the inception of the program, and defensive line coach Issac Mooring.

Texas A&M-Kingsville defensive coordinator Jonathan Petty is expected to assume the role of cornerbacks coach and passing game coordinator for the Huskies. Petty joined the Javelinas prior to the 2020 season as special teams coordinator and secondary coach before taking over the defensive coordinator position before the 2021 campaign.

Two Howard Payne coaches are expected to join Harris at HCU. Yellow Jackets offensive coordinator Stoney Patton has been on a fast rise through the coaching ranks and is expected to coach the wide receivers. HPU offensive line coach Ross Hornor is expected to assume the same role at HCU.

South Florida offensive graduate assistant Aaron Winchester will likely serve as running backs coach for the Huskies. Winchester played quarterback at Georgia State before entering the collegiate coaching ranks at Central Connecticut State prior to joining the Bulls staff.
