The Joey McGuire-led squad has marched to its highest finish in the internet recruiting era, cracking the Top 25 nationally in the 247Sports Composite.

McGuire and his staff focused heavily on signing players from the Lone Star State, as 21 of 25 commitments hail from Texas.

We also love the Tech staff's work on the defensive side of the football. The five highest-rated prospects in the class are all defensive standouts.

Three Key Additions

Who were the highest-rated signees or prospects who might come in and make a significant impact?

DE Isaiah Crawford (6'4, 210) - Post: Crawford missed his senior season due to an injury, but not before he established himself as a four-star prospect, checking in at No. 47 in the DCTF Hot 100. A versatile defender who will play on the edge of the defense and constantly apply pressure.

DT Ansel Nedore (6'3, 255) - Round Rock: Nedore is a prospect who did not do a lot of media throughout his recruitment, but Tech fans should pay attention to this signing. He is a strong defender up front who is athletic enough to move around and create mismatches.

DE Dylan Spencer (6'5, 245) - Sheldon C.E. King: Tech flipped Spencer from Texas just hours before signing day, and he compliments this class nicely. A strongside defensive end who can control the line of scrimmage and be a force against the run. Spencer was a running back at one time, so he has a very athletic profile.

Fan Favorite

What prospect was a fan favorite on social media or a local hero who starred near the campus?

QB Jake Strong (6'1, 180) - Justin Northwest: A four-year varsity starter who passed for over 2,000 yards the past three seasons, completing over 60% of his passes. Strong is rated as the No. 3 QB in the state. He has a quick release, and QB experts have praised him for his consistent foot pattern in the pocket.

Super Sleeper

We pick one prospect on the commit list and explain how he might outplay his ranking in college.

ATH Jmaury Davis (6'2, 200) - Clarendon: Davis is a prospect who just missed the cut for the Hot 100, but this is an extremely deep year for in-state talent. A two-way standout who is very athletic. His best upside may be on the defensive side of the football, where he can use his length and close-quarters explosion to get to the football in a hurry.
