Rueben Owens, the five-star running back who’s also top running back in the nation and No. 3 player in the Texas Football recruiting rankings, has decommitted from Louisville. The El Campo prospect had been committed since June.
The news comes following the departure of Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield to Cincinnati and the hiring of Purdue’s Jeff Brohm to take over the program. He previously announced plans to early enroll for the spring semester.
Teams reportedly in play for Owens’ commitment, prior to his Louisville declaration, were Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M and TCU.
Owens ran for over 7,000 yards and 102 touchdowns for El Campo.
