Sophomore quarterback Haynes King is set to enter the transfer portal after a frustrating career at Texas A&M. The former Longview Lobo was a four-star recruit who took a redshirt in 2020. He started the first two games of the 2021 season before a season-ending leg injury against Colorado put him on the shelf.

The 2022 season was similar. King started the first two games before an injury forced him to the bench for almost a month. Inconsistent play upon his return caused Texas A&M head coach jimbo Fisher to turn to true freshman Conner Weigman. The emergence of Weigman and a diminished role led to King to enter the portal, according to On3Sports.

King still possesses two years of eligibility. He played six games in 2022 and twice in 2021. King helped Longview a state title in 2019. He’s a dual-threat quarterback who will draw interest from P5 and G5 programs across the country.
